Millwork Detailing by Industry Same cabinet, different rules.

A cabinet is a cabinet until you read the specification. Then a hospital cabinet, a laboratory cabinet and a casino cabinet turn out to have almost nothing in common except the word.

Why sector context changes the drawing

The geometry is often similar. Everything around it is not.

The governing standard changes.
A grade acceptable in a corporate fit-out is frequently not acceptable in a laboratory, and the substrate that satisfies one will fail the other.
The failure mode changes.
In retail the risk is inconsistency across fifty stores. In healthcare it is a joint that cannot be cleaned. In a casino it is a fixture that has to survive continuous use and a fit-out window measured in nights.
The scope boundary moves.
Laboratory and healthcare projects routinely split casework between the woodwork section and the equipment sections. Hotels split it between millwork and FF&E. Getting that boundary wrong is how a bid is won at a loss.
The reviewer changes.
A specification writer on an institutional project reads differently from a brand programme manager approving a rollout prototype.

Sector context changes the detail, not just the finish.

What stays the same across all of them

The standard applied, the checking, and who the drawings belong to.

Every set is drawn in your platform, under your title block, and checked by someone other than the detailer who produced it before a senior reviewer signs it off. Your conventions are captured in a Standards Record on the first project and applied on every one after that.

Sector knowledge changes what goes on the sheet. It does not change how the sheet is produced.

What comes back is a senior detailer's read on what the specification actually requires.
