Benches carry water, gas, power, data and waste. Penetrations, chases and access panels are drawn as part of the casework rather than cut into it later.

Cleanability as a detail, not a finish.

Junctions, coved conditions, sealed edges and the absence of unsealed voids are all detailing decisions. They are specified, and they are checked.

A scope boundary that genuinely moves.

Laboratory projects routinely place casework partly in the equipment sections. What sits in Div 06 40 00 and what sits elsewhere is a live question on almost every package, and answering it wrong is how a bid is won at a loss.

The specification read as description.

Grade, substrate and surface requirements treated as guidance rather than obligation, then discovered at submittal review.

A penetration added to a bench that was already dimensioned, forcing a visible compromise or a remake.

Sealed junctions left to the installer.

Where the specification requires a sealed condition and the drawing does not show how it is achieved, the site invents one.

Equipment interfaces assumed.

Fume hoods, sinks and specialist fittings drawn to nominal openings without confirming the actual product dimensions and their tolerance.
