Sealed junctions, coved conditions, minimal unsealed seams and no inaccessible voids. These are detailing decisions and they are usually specified, which means they are also checked.

Equipment coordination.

Clinical casework carries or adjoins equipment with real dimensions and real service requirements. Openings, clearances and support have to be drawn to confirmed products rather than nominal ones.

Work in an occupied building.

Phasing, access routes, noise and dust constraints, and installation windows around clinical operation. An item that cannot be delivered through a working corridor is a detailing failure.

A scope boundary that moves.

As in laboratory work, healthcare projects frequently split casework between the woodwork section and equipment sections. Establishing that boundary is part of the estimating work, not an afterthought.

Junctions left unresolved.

Where a specification requires a sealed condition and the drawing shows a nominal butt, the site decides, and the site decides differently each time.

Items that cannot reach the room.

Long nurse station runs and tall storage drawn in one piece, in a building with fire doors, corridor turns and a lift schedule.

Equipment openings drawn to catalogue dimensions.

Confirmed product data arriving after the drawing was issued, and not matching.

Substrate specified for appearance rather than exposure.

Semi-exposed and concealed surfaces treated as identical, when the specification distinguishes them.
