Brake-Formed and Welded Frame Detailing Scoped to the fabricator who will build it.

Scoped per project, alongside a fixture package. Frame detailing sits at the edge of the millwork trade, and doing it responsibly means knowing the fabricator who will build it. So it is quoted against the project rather than offered as a standard package.

Part of Mixed-material & fixture detailing One of three capabilities within the line

What is detailed in-house

Tube and brake-formed members
Detailed for fabrication with member sizes, lengths, hole positions and forming information.
Frame assembly drawings
Showing how members meet, with connection positions dimensioned rather than described.
Connection points toleranced for what they receive.
A frame is not a standalone object; it exists to carry panels, shelves and glass. Its connection points are dimensioned for those components, which is the part most frame drawings leave to the assembler.
Fixing and adjustment provision
Coordinated with the metal-to-wood interface details so the frame and the components agree.
Finish requirements
Including which surfaces are visible in the finished assembly and which are hidden behind a panel.
Close-up of a laminated curved wood bench formed from layered strips
A formed member still has to carry dimensioned connection points, not just a shape.

Welded assemblies

Welded assemblies are detailed with our fabrication specialists where the scope requires it.

That arrangement exists because welding practice, procedure and qualification belong with the fabricator and a qualified engineer, not with a detailing supplier. What you get is one set and one point of responsibility either way, rather than a handover you have to manage.

Where a scope goes beyond that, it is said plainly and it goes to a fabrication specialist rather than being absorbed quietly.

What the frame drawing has to carry

Three things that separate a usable frame drawing from a shape.

Member identification that survives the shop floor.
Cut lengths, part marks and orientation, so a bundle of tube arriving at a bench is unambiguous.
Connection positions the components can actually meet.
Positioned and toleranced against the panel, shelf or upright, including the adjustment the assembly will need once both parts are finished.
Sequence where it is constrained.
Frames frequently have an assembly order, because a connection becomes inaccessible once an adjacent member is in place. Where that is true, the drawing says so.

The boundary

This is fixture frame work.

It is not structural steel detailing, and it is not architectural metalwork such as railings, stairs, canopies or screens. Those are separate disciplines with different buyers and different obligations, and they are not offered.

Welding procedure, qualification and any structural certification sit with the fabricator and a qualified engineer.

Who this is for

Fixture manufacturers with in-house or partnered metal fabrication, already engaging on the wood and interface scope. Shops where the frame and the casework currently come from two drawing sources and meet for the first time on the assembly floor.

Answers

Common questions

Is this available as a standalone service?
It is scoped per project and normally sits alongside a fixture package rather than on its own, because the frame only makes sense drawn against the components it carries.
Do you detail welded assemblies?
Tube and brake-formed members are detailed for fabrication in-house. Welded assemblies are detailed with our fabrication specialists where the scope requires it. Either way you get one set and one point of responsibility.
Do you provide welding procedure specifications or structural certification?
No. Welding procedure, qualification and any structural certification sit with the fabricator and a qualified engineer.
Can you detail railings, stairs or canopies?
No. That is architectural metalwork, a separate discipline with a different buyer, and it is not offered.
