Millwork Detailing by Market Same cabinet, four different packages.

The same cabinet, drawn for four markets, produces four different packages. Different governing standard, different units, different procurement route, different expectations of what a submittal contains.

Why market context changes the package

  • The governing standard changes. AWI and AWS across most United States work. AWMAC and its Guarantee and Inspection Service in Canada. BS 1186 and BWF conventions in the United Kingdom. They are not interchangeable and a set drawn to the wrong one gets returned.
  • The units change. Imperial in North America, metric in the United Kingdom and Europe. A mixed-unit document is a known source of pricing and fabrication error, and it is avoidable.
  • The procurement route changes. A North American bid package structured around a specification section and a United Kingdom measured bill of quantities are different documents doing different jobs.
  • The vocabulary changes. It is millwork in North America and joinery in the United Kingdom and Europe. Using the wrong word in a submittal is a small thing that tells a reviewer a great deal.

How markets are served

Market offices in Toronto, New Jersey and London, where your account lead and the senior reviewer who signs off your work are based. Production centres across India.

Everything else is a market, not an office. Where a page covers a market without an office, it covers what that market requires of a package rather than a local presence, because claiming otherwise would be untrue and easy to check.

Every deliverable is checked by a named senior reviewer in your time zone before it reaches you, wherever the work was produced.
