Review an architectural animation before the final render

Review a low-cost preview of an architectural animation before committing to the final render. First decide whether the camera route explains the building, then check the design shown in each view. A polished edit cannot correct a doorway in the wrong position or a camera that passes through a wall.

A short assembly in DaVinci Resolve can put separate preview shots in order for discussion. Keep it simple: use the intended sequence and allow enough time to understand each space. Send the reviewer the design revision that the preview represents.

Separate a camera problem from a model problem

Watch the route once without stopping. Can a person unfamiliar with the project understand where the entrance leads and how the principal rooms connect? An attractive close-up may belong later if it interrupts that explanation. Ask for a change to the camera path when the relationship between spaces remains unclear.

Then pause at the views that carry design decisions. Compare them with the agreed drawings or model revision. Check the opening direction of visible doors, the position of fixed joinery and the materials selected for review. Note discrepancies for the modelling team. Cropping a mistake out of one shot does not resolve it in the underlying design.

Give each review comment a place and an action

Use the preview filename and a time reference with every comment. Include a still when the issue concerns a small detail. A useful note identifies what the reviewer sees and what needs checking, rather than asking the team to make the entire scene “more realistic.” For example:

  • At the lobby entrance, check the door swing against the issued plan.
  • In the kitchen approach, hold the view long enough to read the island layout.
  • At the courtyard turn, revise the camera route to avoid the wall.
  • In the closing exterior, confirm the approved cladding before refining its appearance.

Keep requests about the design separate from requests about the presentation. The first group may require an architect’s decision and a model revision. The second may need a different shot length, transition or caption. Record who can approve each change before another preview is rendered.

Blackmagic’s Edit page overview describes how clips can be arranged and trimmed in a timeline. Use those controls to test the order and pacing of the preview. Changing a clip’s timing in an editor does not alter the camera animation in the source scene, so send camera-motion corrections back to the team creating the animation.

Approve the sequence, then check the rendered file

Agree which decisions are settled before starting the final render. That record should identify the model revision, the sequence of views and any unresolved questions. A preview used to approve a route should not accidentally be treated as approval of every material finish.

After the final shots arrive, compare the assembled file with the approved preview. Look for missing views, unintended gaps, inconsistent captions and changes to the agreed order. If an unfamiliar editing task slows that check, use the individual tutorials at DaVinci Resolve Club for the operation you need, then return to the architectural review.

Play the exported file from beginning to end on the device intended for the presentation. Confirm that labels remain legible and the audience has time to read the important spaces. Keep the approved review notes with the delivery so a later request can be compared with the version that was actually agreed.
